I. Request for Information 

This Request for Information (RFI) is a data call for entities to submit their pertinent contact information for inclusion into USAID/Ethiopia's Partner's Guide (2016). Ethiopia is a focus country where USAID implements five Presidential Initiatives which include; (the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President's Malaria Initiative, Power Africa, Feed the Future and Global Climate Change) in Ethiopia and Djibouti. The goal of USAID/Ethiopia is to  implement development assistance. that will accelerate Ethiopia's transformation into a prosperous and resilient country. USAID's Development Objectives for Ethiopia include the following: 

- Increased economic growth with resiliency in rural Ethiopia largely  through food security and agricultural growth and private sector  development 

- Increased use of quality health services with major emphasis on  maternal and child health 

- Improved learning outcomes; emphasis on reading 

- Support for improved governance environment for sustainable  development 

USAID's Mission in Ethiopia is composed of technical and support offices which plan and design development activities for implementation. Technical offices support the following areas of focus; Health Population and Nutrition (HAPN), Economic Growth and Trade (EG& T), Democracy and Governance (DG) , Basic Education Services (BES), Assets in Livelihood in Transition (ALT), Office of Financial Management (OFM) and Program Resources Management (PRM). Some examples of the types of services we routinely acquire are; technical assistance, construction, auditing, monitoring and evaluation and humanitarian assistance. 

The objective of the guide book is mainly to present Ethiopia and its vibrant economic growth, which creates business and investment opportunities in different sectors, as well as highlighting businesses both US and Ethiopian which are capable of supporting the achievement of USAID goals and objectives in Ethiopia. In addition the guide book will serve as a "first line" of market research data for the Mission and other partners to use in identifying capable vendors. Interested parties should provide contact information relevant to their organization and the services they provide. 

II. Background 

USAID/Ethiopia is developing a high-quality, photo guidebook to provide useful information for American investors/businesses interested in potentially investing in Ethiopia or partnering with the Ethiopian business sector. The objective of the guide book is to promote opportunities now available in Ethiopia by highlighting the country's vibrant economic growth and identifying the business and investment opportunities in different sectors. This guide will assist investors and businesses to understand existing and potential business opportunities in a range of sectors and will serve as a guide for potential investors/businesses by providing them with essential information and relevant contacts related to establishing a business in Ethiopia in addition to other information relative to local procedures/laws for operating in Ethiopia.

The guide book will also showcase USAID's involvement in different sectors and  achievements in Ethiopia while providing trade and investment opportunities in  different sectors related to USAID's areas of interest and involvement in Ethiopia  such as agricultural growth programs, livestock market development,  infrastructure projects, energy (hydro, wind, geothermal), educational, health,  water, sanitation, nutrition, food security and capacity building support. 

The guide book will include information about relevant government offices that issue different licenses, provide steps that should be take , list required  documents and requirements for the effective processing of new business or  investment permits in accordance with Ethiopian laws. The guide book will also include brief profiles of U.S. businesses and Ethiopian businesses working in areas supported by USAID's technical/development work. It will also showcase existing U.S. investments and businesses already operating in Ethiopia in different sectors. 

In addition, the guide book will include information relative to other attractions in Ethiopia to include tourist attractions, basic traveler's information, hotels, restaurants, car rentals, emergency services etc. The guide book will be printed on high-quality glossy paper and distributed to entities which are interested in doing business in Ethiopia and to expand interest for those which has never considered investment or doing business in Ethiopia before.

All information must be submitted electronically to caddis@usaid.goy with a copy to Ms. Mariamawit Girma at mgirma@usaid.goy. Responses to this RFI will be accepted through January 14, 2016 at 17:00 (Addis Ababa 

time). You will receive only an electronic confirmation acknowledging receipt of your response, but will not receive individualized feedback or suggestions. No basis for claims against the U.S. Government shall arise as a result of a response to this request for information or from the U.S. 

Government's non-use of submitted information. Specific questions about this RPI should be directed only to the email addresses identified above. This office will not respond to any telephone or other inquiries regarding this notice.
