The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI), a regional think tank, seeks to recruit qualified and competent Senior Research Fellow for its Research and Dissemination division for its head office in Addis Ababa.

 

Core responsibility:

The main responsibilities of the Senior Research Fellow are to engage in research projects of the institute and implement commissioned studies. He/She will involve in and contribute to the planning and coordination of the research programs on economic policy issues in priority areas of HESPI.  The Senior Research Fellow must have specialized expertise in one or more of the macroeconomic areas such as investment and growth as well as policy research experience on policy issues of Trade and Regional Economic Integration, Finance and Resources Management, Poverty Reduction, Food Security and Natural Resources management. The candidate should have proven capacity to manage research data and formulate policy recommendations.  He/She will supervise and lead in-house research projects, commissioned studies and consultants’ contributions particularly relevant to the IGAD region. The Senior Research fellow will contribute to other relevant initiatives of the regional institute including capacity building programs and consultancy projects.

 

General Requirements:

·        Strong Research Skills, especially quantitative research

·        Proven ability to author research papers and report, and experience in supervising and mentoring research program staff

·        Experience in developing research proposals, data collection, analysis and interpretation

·        Strong organizational and administrative management skills

·        Proficient in oral and written communication skills in English

 

Qualifications:

PhD degree in economics with at least 5 years experience or Masters Degree in Economics with 8 years experience, competitive candidates will publish articles in reputable Economic Journals.

 

Pay and Conditions;

Salaries and benefits are attractive and are based on the Institute’s salary scale, and are competitive in reference to remunerations paid by regional organizations located in Addis Ababa.
